The Negative Spiral
Whether you suffer with alcohol addiction, emotional drinking or a general misuse of alcohol we can help you to overcome the attachment to alcohol you have with alcohol CBT counselling.
There can be many reasons why people develop a dependence to alcohol. Generally, alcohol dependence is accompanied with emotional distress such as:
Anxiety, especially social anxiety
Stress
Anger Issues
Low confidence or Low Self Esteem
Insomnia or sleeping problems
Depression or feelings of helplessness or hopelessness
A means to cope with events or situations that appear too difficult to face
Relationship difficulties
And so the negative spiral continues
You experience a difficult situation either emotionally or physically.
Your mind 'send in a message' or you experience the urge that you need to have a drink to cope.
You consume the alcohol.
You feel better or more relaxed, (or you believe these to be the benefits).
You keep the belief alive that alcohol helps and you may experience stress, anxiety and guilt from the alcohol consumption
The next time you experience a negative situation your mind once again suggests that having a drink will help.

Before our meeting I was nervous as it was something that was hard for me to face up to.
Literally straight after the first session I felt a rush of positivity when I left his office and I realised that this was the start of something that was going to shape the rest of my life.
As Paul said we had all of the jigsaw pieces now we were going to put them together. And that is what happened.

It was apparent to me from the start that Paul was trust worthy and patient, both of which are attributes I feel are needed to help battle a drink problem.  
I learnt how to interpret my emotions, confront them and use the rational part of my mind to break the habit.
Almost immediately I felt at ease and everything just seemed to flow after our session together.
During the sessions we talked pretty much about all the triggers to my binge drinking problem.
