At your initial consultation we will discuss in detail the problems you experience and how it impacts on your day to day life.
We will then discuss the appropriate treatment options and begin the process of change.
There are particular patterns and themes of thought, feelings and behaviours that maintain the way you feel and respond to situations. By learning how to disrupt these patterns and at the same time develop new understanding and skills, you can reduce your negative habits of behaviour.

Cognitive behavioural therapy is an evidence based treatment approach. One of the core ideas of CBT is how emotional reactions and behaviours are influenced by cognitions, our thoughts.

So it is how thoughts affect feelings and how these affect behaviours and your physical state.
Using CBT interventions allows the opportunity to work with the levels of negative automatic thoughts, dysfunctional assumptions and core beliefs, updating the old patterns of thinking and maintenance processes that kept the problem going, into new and more useful ways of thinking that generate the required behaviours.
So, rather than following your current autopilot thoughts and responses, CBT will give you the opportunity to recognise the triggers to your problems long before you currently do. You will learn how take a mental step back and choose an alternative response.

Hypnotherapy is a positive state where through skilled communication you are guided to become more relaxed physically and mentally, to feel at ease in yourself.
Yet at the same time you are mentally awake and in full control of your mind and free will.
The words used enable a state of creative focus in a relaxed way and in line with the goals of your therapy, your subconscious mind becomes more focused, receptive and creative to allow for therapeutic change to take place at a subconscious level.

The treatments Paul uses are dependent on the complexity and intensity of the problems involved. We offer the use of a combination of counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness, or with others just one line of therapy is used.
Sessions usually last for one hour. Our goal is to help you work on making each day better than it otherwise would have been.
